Homeschool Days provide hands-on activities in the museum. Perfect as an introduction to the maritime world or as a complement to classroom lessons. Offered throughout the year on select Fridays with seasonal programming.



Carry On

Thursday, March 6 starting at 10.00 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Relive the historic voyages that mapped the world! Experiment with the navigation instruments and create your own compass to plot a course on a nautical chart. Junior Curators

Thursday, April 9 starting at 10.00 a.m.

Ever wondered what it would be like to work in a museum? Learn about the day tasks of a museum curator and then organize your own display with maritime artifacts. Advance registration is required.

Buffalo Bayou

Thursday, February 13 at 10.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.

Join us to discover Houston's special relationship with Buffalo Bayou! Students will learn about the founding of Houston, the significance of the Ship Channel, and the environmental factors of the water. The Galveston Bay Foundation will give presentations at 10:00am and 11:00am in the Kids' Cove.

$5/person and free for members. Prepared for kids 8-12, but all ages are invited to join. Advance registration is required.
