Margaret Kidd

Program Director, Supply Chain & Logistics Technology, College of Technology, University of Houston

Margaret A. Kidd joined University of Houston, College of Technology, Construction Management Department in fall 2016, as an Assistant Professor, Supply Chain & Logistics Technology (SCLT). Currently she serves on the University of Houston Faculty Senate, Undergraduate Committee and serves as faculty advisor to the Supply Chain Industrial Distribution Organization. Additionally, she serves as a liaison for the Exporters Competitive Maritime Council – Education Committee, Port of Houston Partners in Maritime Education, Liaison to Houston Electric League, Energy Industries Council, North & Central America Regional Advisory Board, Houston Maritime Center Advisory Board, and East End Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board. In August of 2018 she was promoted to Program Director for the SCLT BS degree program. Prior to joining the University of Houston, Margaret served as the Project Director of the TAACCT LINCS Grant at San Jacinto College, where she was charged with participating with the LINCS Consortium ($ 25,000,000 US Department of Labor Grant) in developing and implementing a nationally recognized series of eight stackable and latticed credentials that provided workers with skills suitable for entry and middle level employment in supply chain management.

In her role as Program Director, Margaret has developed a “global – powerhouse” advisory board composed of importers, exporters, EPC’s, 3PL’s, manufacturers, port authorities and related maritime stakeholders. Within the SCLT BS and MS program, Margaret has negotiated partnerships with globally recognized professional organizations to launch a certificate program benefiting both students and the United States maritime trade industry. These partnerships include, the National Customs Brokers Forwarders Association America, Chartered Institute Logistics & Transport UK/NA, Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (USA) Inc., and 4D-Supply Chain Consulting, a deugro group enterprise. Margaret’s leadership and contribution to maritime/supply chain/logistics workforce competitiveness, regional infrastructure capacity building, and economic development efforts supporting the regional and national economy have recently been recognized by both KBR, Government Solutions and Port of Houston Community Grants.

Many have seen Margaret in 2020 and 2021 on numerous news channels including BBC World News, Fox Morning with Maria, Fox Sunday Night in America with Trey Goudy, NPR, CNBC and many more discussing supply chain disruption and solutions. As a popular panelist and moderator for academic and industry conferences, she has also participated in the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional Annual Conference in Orlando and the Petrochemical and Logistics Conference in Houston. She presented at the Port Logistics: What’s Next? Conference, sponsored by Georgia Ports of Authority, Port of Rotterdam, University of Groningen and Georgia Tech University. Most recently she collaboratively organized and moderated the Sustainable Mobility in Logistics: “The Future of Smart & Green Ports” Conference held at University of Houston on February 21, 2018, was a featured presenter on the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Intermodal Freight Transport, August 28, 2018 Webinar titled the Future of Freight Education , organized and moderated the Steel Forum: Global Economy, Local Effect for the East End Chamber of Commerce at the Federal Reserve Bank, December 11, 2018, was a panelist for the Highway 36A Corridor Infrastructure Conference, August 19, 2019, moderated the port infrastructure panel for the Port of the Future Conference, March 2020 , co-hosted/organized the Port Houston Appreciation Conference Keeping our Global Maritime Highway Moving, November 2020, was a panelist March 4, 2021 at the Supply Chain Management Directors’ Conference sponsored by University Southern California, and will present at the Procurement Executives Group in April 2021.
