In partnership with UTC Overseas, the Port of Beaumont, and Mammoet, with support from Humanities Texas and NEH, Houston Maritime Center presents Triumph Over Nature, a minidocumentary about how the Gulf Coast shipping industry prepares for hurricanes and how ongoing preparedness resulted in favorable outcomes for all parties involved in a shipment during Hurricane Laura in 2020.
Hurricanes are a natural part of shipping in Houston. Cities, companies, non-profits, citizens, and governments all prepare for the inevitable with Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPP) so when disaster strikes, there’s no delay. Triumph Over Nature tells the story of how an EPP is formed, put into action, and the benefits of having one.
