Virtual Classroom
Students
Starting with master maritime navigator Nathaniel Bowditch, Houston Maritime Center & Museum is putting together a series of online curriculums helping connect children to their maritime heritage including video, worksheets, teachers’ guides, quizzes, and reading lists. These modules are available for a small cost to help with production costs, or are included in Educator and Corporate members. HMC&M is also creating a series of free modules that are available for shorter lessons and do not come with additional teacher’s resources.
Historically, these types of classes have been offered in-person to public and private schools, as well as homeschool classes. With over 350,000 homeschool students in Texas, an online resource for maritime curriculum is a strong need. Houston Maritime Center & Museum’s modules will be standalone options for teachers and parents to provide maritime education in their home or classroom. Gain access to the first in the series HERE.
Professionals
Working with industry experts and professional training organizations, such as IMarEST and NAMEPA, Houston Maritime Center & Museum will serve as a platform for creating and delivering content for these organizations and their constituents. The modules will range from technical presentations to environmental lectures, utilizing HMC&M’s streaming webinar services, studio, moderators, and various video equipment. These modules will be available to HMC&M’s professional members once uploaded to the Houston Maritime Center & Museum site, as well as to the organization sponsoring the module.
